Of her work, Christine says:
"The idea of escape to a fantastical world is very powerful for me, and with these images I am evoking the imaginary. While waiting for a balance of manmade and natural light I prowl the streets in search of a non-descript space or structure that holds the possibility for transformation. I remove references such as scale, horizon and environment to heighten the transfiguration.
My motivations include interest in spatial ambiguity and illusion, possibility, potential and the thrill of the unexpected. I have strong instincts about where to be and when, but due to the shift in balance between light sources, movement of clouds, fading day and duration of exposure, the moment is fleeting and the results are unpredictable.
For many years my work has involved a pattern of escapism and transformation; with Threshold I am embracing the possibility of an unknown world that reveals itself when particular conditions align. Like a child during play, I can conceive of these images as imaginary locations: a hovering walkway, a castle, an obelisk built to a strange presence, a green city, a rounded structure that houses the unknown or a bizarre looming edifice."
