Paris in Black and White
Photography by Lynn Limon

"The
'look' of the City of Light largely derives from the mid-19th century
design of Haussmann, who was commissioned by Napoleon III to transform
Paris from its then medieval maze to the city of grand boulevards and
stately architecture that we recognize today. My black and white
interpretation, with just a suggestion of color, contrasts the curves
of the older structures with the angularity of newer designs, all
contributing to the textures of this unique city."

"In
this project, dolls, action figures, mannequins and clowns wander
beyond the playroom into the other spaces of a home. The images
pull the viewer into a state of disturbing dissonance or playful
receptivity. These kitschy and uncanny objects located in familiar
settings can feel like strange beings invading our homes, observing and
questioning who we are and the very nature of the places we inhabit. The juxtaposition of the alien within the ordinary shifts our
perspective and can throw us into an unbalanced state where surprise
blends with a quirky playfulness or a dark eeriness. Each 'visitor'
can pose several questions: What is this place you live in? Who are
you (even as you ask who are they)? Can we co-exist in the same space?
And, who is the stranger here?"Changing Seasons
An Abstract Look at Life's Different Stages
Paintings by Inge Strack

"My paintings are upbeat and symbolize the strength and positive
attitude that are part of the American spirit and therefore part of my
newfound life in the United States. My passion for bold colors comes
from a group of artists called "The Blue Rider" of the 1920s,
especially Franz Marc; other influences are American artists Mark
Rothko and Wolf Kahn. 'Changing Seasons' is a look at finding oneself
in the journey of life's different stages."
