New American Paintings Magazine Call for Artists

 

CALL FOR ARTISTS – Mid-Atlantic Region

The Open Studios Press is currently accepting entries for the 2007 Mid-Atlantic competition for painters. Competitions are conducted annually in each of six regions of the country and lead to publication in New American Paintings magazine. Juried by curators from prominent museums. Painting, drawing, monoprints/types, mixed media, 2-D only (no photo, computer-generated work or edition prints). Entry fee $35.

Halstead, Leal and Spencer

12 12 Gallery opens 2007-2008 season with Richmond artists, Tina Halstead, Jerry Leal, and Krishanna Spencer.

Exhibition preview: Friday, August 24th from 7-10PM.

Artists' reception: Open to the public on Sunday, August 26th from 2-5PM.

Exhibition closes: Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

In Gallery Centre, Tina Halstead explores the riches of fabric and versatility of paper in her show "Gone Fishin:  Painted Silk, Persian Paper".

"For this show I'm using silk and Persian paper in the style of Eastern miniatures, in storybook fashion."

In Gallery West, Texas native Jerry Leal shows recent oil paintings in "Recent Landscapes".

"This world is full of color and expression. I use paint as an extension of what I am feeling."

In Gallery East, Krishanna Spencer presents her unique perspective with ecletic, one of kind, works of art with "Relics: New Encaustics and Assemblage".

"I work intuitively, dipping into the secrets of my inner life, and the works I create are simply the results of devising creative ways to uncover them."

12 12 Gallery, South Richmond's Fine Art Gallery, in the John B Anderson House, is just east of Hull Street.  Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays 12-4, Saturdays 11-6, Sundays 12-5, and by appointment.
